Science learning centres in all Districts

KATHMANDU: Minister for Science and Technology Kalpana Dhamala informed that works are being carried out in line with the government's policy to set up science learning centres across all the districts. Minister Dhamala said this while inaugurating 19th anniversary of National School of Science on Sunday. 'People's dream of building prospered Nepal will be cherished only when the state put the sector of science on priority', she added. On the occasion, boys and girls students securing highest scores in the examinations conducted by the campus were given away medals, awards and certificates. Campus Founder Principal Madhab Prasad Baral admitted that brain drain of students is caused due to failure of private education institutions in delivering quality education. There are 1,975 students in science faculty and 400 in management faculty in the campus. Source: The Himalayan Times

FRIENDSHIP SMS

  • Sometimes in life we think we don't need anyone. But sometime we don't have anyone    when we need... So don't let your best buddies go ever...
  • In this cruel world it is very difficult to find friend with beautiful heart, pure feelings, attractive personality & stylish looks. So learn to value me!
  • Friendship isn't ranked by whom we have known the longest, who came first or who cares the best. It's about who came and never left.
  • To live a life i need heartbeat, 2 have heartbeat i need a heart, 2 have heart i need happiness, to have happiness i need a friend, and 4 a friend i need U. ALWAYS
  • If i cud pull down the rainbow i wud write ur name & put it in the sky to let evbody know how colorful is my life with a fren like U !!
  • God picked up a flower and dipped it in a DEW, lovingly touched it which turned in to u, and the he gifted to me and said, THIS FRIEND IS 4U.

Google's Self Driving car

As the researches on artificial intelligence is being growing rapidly, the engineers of Google developed a self driven car. We can say that self driven car is the one more forward step in the field of artificial intelligence.Their cars use cameras, radar sensors and laser range finders to “see” and guess what, they’ve teamed up with the winners of the DARPA challenge, an academic competition to create a self driven car. They’ve been testing their automated cars for a long time – 140,000 miles of travel logs. And Google has been able to make this possible because of their data centers – the massive computers that they have.
They think cars were invented at the wrong time – when computers weren’t widespread. It just makes sense that cars drive themselves. And it just might help prevent accidents, decrease carbon emissions. The car  always have trained  driver to control it in case of failure.

Semiconductors

Semiconductors, the foundation of the modern electronics including many helpful communicating devices such as radios, TV, cell phones etc is a material with electrical conductivity due to electron flow intermediate in magnitude between that of a conductor and an insulator. The conductivity of semiconductor lies in the range of 103 to 10-8 Siemens per centimeter. The common semiconductors are the crystalline solids which include hydrogenated amorphous silicon and mixtures of arsenic, selenium and tellurium in a variety of proportions.

Silicon is used to create most semiconductors commercially. A pure semiconductor is often called "intrinsic" semiconductor. The added materials in intrinsic semiconductor to make them with desired conducting capacity are called "dopants". For example in crystalline silicon the impurities boron and phosphorous are added as dopants. In semiconductors the electrons can have energies only within certain bands which are generally located between the energy of the ground state. Holes, the electron absence as the charge carrier are the main means of conduction in semiconductor devices. Electron hole pairs are constantly generated from thermal energy as well in the absence of any external energy source. The another property of semiconductor that makes them most useful for constructing electronic devices is that they can be made conductors on different levels by introducing impurities into their crystal lattice, called doping. On the production of semiconductors materials the need of pure semiconductor is extremely high because even small impurity present may effect the labeled conduction of that semiconductor.
Semiconductor being the heart component of microprocessor chips as well as transistor, it have had a monumental impact in our society. The more achievement in production of fast working semiconductors is still desired.

Robotics

A robot is a mechanical intelligent agent which can perform task on its own, or with guidance. In practice the robot is usually an electromechanical machine which is guided by computer and electronic programming. At first the machines was initially used for simple household tasks such as water lifting, grinding etc. But with the development of advanced technology robots are become more complex and can solve many hard problems.
In development of robot we find Niko Tesla designing a radio controlled torpedo. Gakutensoku, which cried and changed its facial expressions. The first electronics robot created by William Grey Walter in Bristol, England, in 1948 made an evolution on robots history. The ultimate, 1954 was the digital and programmable robot. On development, ASIMO could walk and move likes a human. It has overcome the size limitation of human or even those such as in outer space or at bottom of sea where human couldn't survive. Now robots are used in very large varieties such as cleaning floors, drains mowing lawns, investigating other planets, building cars, in entertainment and in war force. Now the Japanese "karakuri giemun" has created an array of extremely complex mechanical toys.
So the robot is any automatically operated machine that replaces human effort though it may not resemble human beings in appearance or performs functions in a human like manner. They should be used in industrial jobs that will give more product and we can use it for entertainment purpose also.

Sonar

A technique that uses sound propagation to navigate, communicate with or detect other vessels is sonar, originally an acronym for Sound Navigation And ranging. There are two technologies that share the name sonar. Passive sonar is essentially listening for the sound made by vessels, active sonar is emitting pulses of sound and listening for echo’s. As a historical evidence of sonar we take Leonardo da Vinci who recorded a ultrasonic sound by inserting a tube in 1940.

Sonar may be used as a means of acoustic location and the measurement of the echo characteristics of "targets" in the water. Acoustic location in air was used before the introduction of RADAR. Sonar may also be used in air for robot navigation, and radar is used for atmospheric investigations. The acoustic frequencies used in sonar system vary from very low (infrasonic) to extremely high (ultrasonic). In 1930s American engineers developed there own underwater sound detection technology and important inventions like thermo clines were made. After technical information was exchanged between two countries during the Second World War, Americans began to use the term "sonar" for their system, coined as the equivalent of radar. The detection classification and localization performance of sonar depends upon the environment and the receiving equipment.
Sonar operation is affected by variation in sound speed, which is determined by the waters bulk modulus and mass density. The sonar technology is very much useful and the well practiced technology in the recent days.
